Design Services for Custom Homes

  1. When will the plans be ready?
The plan process can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks. The Engineering “wet stamp” process, if required, could take 4-8 weeks.

  2. What changes can I make?
You can make changes to accommodate personal preferences and lot requirements. Most changes are possible, but structurally they have to make sense.

  3. What are some common changes that people make to their plans?
Enlarge the home, add windows, move interior walls, make a closet bigger, add a garage or other architectural detailing.

  4. What types of windows are available to me?
Our standard window model is a PVC (vinyl) low E-argon as per your plan. Please reference our "What’s Included" page for a list of our options, including wood metal clad and double hung windows. There are numerous sizes and styles of windows. To find out more information about basic window types, please click here.

  5. What about building codes?
Because of the great differences in geography and climate throughout the United States and Canada, each state, county, and municipality has its own building codes, zone requirements, ordinances and building regulations. Your plan may need to be modified to comply with local requirements regarding snow loads, energy codes, soil and seismic conditions and a wide range of other matters. In addition, you may need to obtain permits or inspections from local government agencies before and while in construction. Check your local county or municipal website for what is required in your area. Our plans are deigned to meet or exceed national building standards. We recommend that you make an appointment with your local building authority to verify what the requirements are.
